One thing I’m proud that this blog represents is encouraging people to be brave with their writing. It’s about taking chances, wearing your heart on your sleeve a bit, not being afraid to write about how you feel and experiment with how you express yourself.
That’s why today I’m doing a little, internal cheeky smile in suggesting a new way that you might like to express yourself with words…
I’ve teamed up with the team from Word Ejaculation to help promote a writing competition running through February. Word Ejaculation, if you haven’t come across it already and I know many, many of you have (even if you haven’t admitted it!) is a new website dedicated to the expression of all things erotic, dirty and naughty. Strictly for over 18s, containing explicit material (so bear that in mind if you click through), it is about absolute freedom of expression, providing a space for fantasy to run riot. And, I’m not ashamed to say, I completely love it.
I think writing about sex can be hugely empowering, especially for women. TALKING about sex isn’t always easy, and when you’re a mum, too, it’s all too easy for that side of ourselves to be given low priority. But, let’s face it, sex is as fundamental to our nature as breathing, and writing out our fantasies, our experiences, our desires, can help us reconnect with that aspect of ourselves.
For women, and some men too, erotica is so often more than just visual stimuli, it’s about engaging the mind, too, and sex written down can be hugely arousing. Word Ejaculation gives you a safe space to do just that . It’s not just stories, although that’s where it came from, starting off as a blog that got too popular to be contained within one format, and is now a melting pot of stories, photography, sex and relationship-based articles and with a very heavy dollop of not-taking-itself-too-seriously and lots of humour. In its first couple of months it’s been hugely successful and inundated with anonymous contributions. In January alone the site had over twenty two thousand hits, with a broad readership and following from men AND women from all walks of life.
I have huge respect for its creator, the enigmatic and controversial @cuntychopalops on Twitter for breaking out of the mould and not being afraid to do something fun, creative and different, despite much criticism at times and having to really fight for her freedom of expression. A happily married mum of four, K started Word Ejaculation after her mummy blog with a difference grew into something a little more daring, as a way of reclaiming something for herself as she fought against the prospect of the end of her maternity leave. Like so many of us, K looked for a way to balance time at home with making some money and carving out something for her too, and it seems like in Word Ejaculation she’s found just that. I genuinely wish her all the best of luck with it – I wish we could all care a little less what people thought and were daring enough to forge our own way.
So if you think you might be brave enough to turn the internal censors off for a bit and let your darker thoughts run wild, then go check out Word Ejaculation for details of their writing competition, how to enter, and details of the fun prize offered by Saucy Bunny.com for the winner.
Have fun!

Oh go on…
Write something really brave and submit it anonymously! It's not 'the dirtier the better' – they'll be looking for something really well written and creative.

I'll have a think. I might just submit the ones I've done anyway.
