The Gallery: Self Portrait

Posted by on May 19, 2010 in Photography | 64 comments

I don’t know who I am most days.

I never really understand yesterday and or know where I’ll be tomorrow.

But today? Today I am doing OK. I’m doing pretty good actually.

And that will do for now.

This Gallery prompt was inspired by Laura, who’s moving story challenged us all to get in front of the camera a bit more, so our children will always have the chance to remember who were were.

My last gallery post was a portrait of myself on a bad day. Today is a good day. THIS is how I want to be seen, not the tired shell of last time.

I hope Kai will remember me as a mother who tried, who picked herself up every day and had another go. Not perfect, but someone brave enough to face life on full-on, face herself full-on, and embrace what she saw.

This post was written for Week 12 of Tara’s Gallery.

The theme this week was a Self-Portrait.

You are so photogenic. If I photographed even half as well as you do I would spend a lot more time in front of the camera instead of behind it. Xx

You look ever so pretty in this picture. Very Audrey Tatou. Wish I could get away with really short hair.

Stunning photo and oh my goodness, your eyebrows are perfection. I have none or they are so light you can't really see them so I'm a little obsessed. Anyway, lovely to meet you!

I love this photo of you, agree with all the hair and cleavage comments! If I could pull it off I'd say "work it, sister" or something equally "hip"! You're gorgeous.

STILL trying to catch up with all these posts – this is a lovely photo of yourself – so different to the "sad" photo you posted up a couple of weeks ago. I'm glad you're feeling a lot better, chuck x

Hi Josie, I've finally made it onto here after meeting you on Linda's blog. This photo is beautiful, and now I know what you look like when you decide to come to Busy Mums!

It's a good challenge, to have more pictures of ourselves for our children. I cringe at most photos of myself but then when I look back and realise there are hardly any of me I do feel a bit sad.
