Writing Workshop: It’s over to you…

Posted by on Mar 18, 2010 in Writing, Writing Workshop | 13 comments

I’ll admit it. I’m copping out this week. I could say that I was following prompt 4 and that this excuse for a post was because my body had let me down. And it would be true. I had a bad evening last night and am not feeling great this morning.

But the truth is I think you’ve heard enough of me this week. I embarrassed myself a little yesterday with my silly insecurities. I’m so glad that so many of you feel like you can relate, and that maybe lifting the lid on it means we can all see that no matter how ‘good’ our blog is, worrying what people think, wanting to be validated is human nature and for a lot of people is going to be part and parcel of blogging, no matter who they are or how popular their blog is. I hope that what you can see from the post, and from the people that commented, is that feeling insecure is about US not about our blogs. So if you’re feeling like I do sometimes, it is no reflection of the quality, or ‘success’ of your blog. It’s just one of those things we have to work through, shrug off, and carry on regardless.

But anyone who gets such an amazing inundation of lovely comments has no right to talk about wobbles. I am very, very lucky to have you all and very grateful to all of you that take the time to stop by and share your thoughts, and your support, with me. Thank you.

So I’m shutting up today.

I’d like  you to take the time that you would have spent reading and commenting on this post to go and comment on another person taking part in the workshop.

This one’s about you. OK?

Don’t forget that every submission to the workshop today will receive an entry into my giveaway to win a free place on the Handmade Writer course starting on 12th April and brought to you by the lovely Amy at Bring Yourself.

If, for any reason at all, you’d like to opt out of the giveaway and just submit a post then just leave me a quick note to tell me you’d like to be taken out of the running.

So, with out further ado. It’s over to you… as usual, I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with.

Which prompt did you choose?

Writing Workshop Badge

1. Tell me about someone from you past who you lost touch with and who you often think about.
- Inspired by Deer Baby’s exquisite and compelling post The Nanny Diaries – my favourite post from this last week and a must-read.

2. Has there ever been a time you felt panic start to take you over?
- Inspired by Make Do Mum and her day of panic at the station.

3. What excuses are you hiding behind at the moment?
- Inspired by the very fabulous Leslieanne at Life with a Little Dude who has been ‘buying for the baby’ and discovering the dark side to Baby Led Weaning!

4. Tell me about a time your body let you down.
- Inspired by Hayley who is working so hard training for her London to Brighton bike ride, despite feeling very under the weather in her post Reluctant Body Vs. Determined Mind

5. Tell us about something, or show us something that you do really, really well and are proud of.
- Inspired by Paula  Battling on AND Young and Younger who have both been celebrating their successes and achievements this week.

This Writing Workshop is brought to you in association with Mama Kat’s Losin’ It – who’s lovely author came up with the concept and runs her own workshop over in the U.S.

Third attempt and I've managed to get a post done in time. However, as it took me 3 weeks to manage I'm afraid I'm going to have to opt out of the giveaway. Would love to do it but just don't think I've got time. Maybe next time.

I think this is a great giveaway, but I am stretched too thin time-wise as it is, so I think it's fairer to opt out and give someone else with more time on their hands a better chance of winning it. x

As I said yesterday I had a wobble and actually it was over the post I wrote for this weeks workshop lol. Please don't enter me in the comp as I'm starting a creative writing class in April so I would hate to be picked and take it away from someone else x

I'm going to opt out of the giveaway too. As you'll know from reading my post, I've decided to try and make a go of freelance writing. I think the course looks fabulous, but right now would just be another excuse to hide behind. Completely brilliant prize though, and I really hope someone enjoys it.

I have just added my link, i have to say i am really enjoying the workshops and it has given me real focus with me writing. Your giveaway is amazing. As for your wobble yesterday. everytime i write a post i panic, i think that is human nature unless we are like some bloggers whose ego has got gigantic and think we need to thank them for posting lol

    Hi Josie
Its been a while since I wrote as part of your workshop as I am now back at work and struggling to meet your deadline! So I am chuffed to submit an entry today. I really hope I am not too late!
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway prize too, but I will opt out of this as work will no doubt get the better of my time! Good luck to all the other entries though!
Hope you enjoy my story and I am looking forward to reading the other entries xx

This is the first time I have taken part in the workshop, and have loved reading everyone's posts. I will have to opt out of the giveaway though (much as I would love to win it) as I am due to have a baby in 7 weeks AND am moving house in 2 weeks. I may be a teeny tiny bit busy… :)

Ooops, nearly forgot – don't enter me in the giveaway either (my post is no. 27 on the list, Big Circus). I do hope whoever wins it will blog about all the great things they're learning and share their writings with us, though, because that would make great reading!
